Wellness and wine pair beautifully together. Not many people comprehend the divine connection between making wine, drinking wine, and health and wellness. Until today...

After studying ancient civilizations and their connection to alcoholic beverages (mostly wines and beers), I realized it's way more than just wine...
People for centuries have used different wines and beers to connect with their communities, connect with divinity, and more.
You will learn the sacred wellness and wine tips to elevate your wine-loving lifestyle, plus some resources to dive deeper into wine wellness.
This post is all about wellness and wine.
11 Sacred Wellness and Wine Tips
As some are aware, wine can reap some health benefits when we enjoy it correctly: antioxidants, vitamins, and more.
To pair wine and wellness, it is important to keep that in mind because then we can add varying other elements to spice up our experience and transform our spiritual lifestyle.
1. Mindful Sips
Wine is a tool to bring ourselves to the present moment.
A trick that is not isolated with wellness & wine. In fact, when avid wine drinkers drink wine, they swirl, sniff, and sip.
Even enjoying the aromas for a few minutes before actually taking a sip. That allows you to connect with the wine itself and tap into the sensory part of your brain.
For women, the sensory part of our brain is intimately connected to our emotional part of our brain. Many people in the wine and beer industry claim women have a better sense of taste and smell.
Therefore, taking mindful sips and engaging with the wine itself will bring you into your emotional body, whatever that means to you. Of course, this takes practice and awareness so you might not understand on the first try.
2. Create a Ritual
Much like any yoga practice or meditation, bring in the powerful elements of ritual to deepen the experience with your wines. It does not have to be anything intense, it can be simple acts.
Some examples are:
- Light candle(s)
- Burn incense
- Take a bubble bath
- Turn on the cozy porch twinkle lights
- Use a decanter
- Use your favorite wine glass

Creating a ritual around wine drinking helps minimize the amount you will drink and begins to build respect for the craft instead of abusing it. This is how we combine wellness and wine.
3. Time it Right...
This is very important! Try to enjoy your wines in the late afternoon or evening when your body is ready to wind down.
Try not to have a glass of wine at, or before, noon when your body and mind are engaged in work, travel, or play.
Our time to drink wine is to relax with loved ones, enjoy music and ritual by ourselves while we unwind.
Also think about wine, or alcohol in general, is a depressant. Having a glass in the evening, or after a slow yoga class, will greater enhance the relaxation.
You don't want to be stimulated after drinking wine!
4. Take Your Wine Out the Doors
Everyone loves a summer or spring time picnic, or enjoying a glass of wine under the stars, camping, etc.
Bring your wine outside, go barefoot, and breathe with the trees. Step mindfully as you move through the world graciously and elegantly.
If you want to create a bigger production:
- Make a picnic in the garden, in the grass, forest, or on the beach
- Wear a sundress or a long skirt and no shoes
- Flow with the wind
- Invite friends to bring snacks
5. Pair Wine, Wellness, & Yoga
A huge way to pair wellness and wine is to integrate yoga into your experience.
This can be simply as going to a hot yoga class, coming home, showering, then sitting with a glass of wine.
Or, you can set up a yoga station at home with a glass of wine and enjoy it as you move slowly, breathe, and relax.
An elegant glass of wine with yoga can create a beautiful synergy that brings you deeper into the moment and expands your mind (the wine and yoga do that!).

But, remember tip number 1, and mindfully sip to bring yourself into connection with your wine.
6. Nourish the Body
Maybe one of my favorites! When you go to get a glass of wine later, or after you read this post, grab a bar of dark chocolate. Or chocolate covered blueberries!
Think about pairing your wine with antioxidant rich foods.
- Berries
- Dark green leafy veggies
- Red meat
- Dark chocolate
- Fatty fish
Either engaging with these as a meal, or in conjunction with any of these other wellness and wine tips!
Dark chocolate, red wine, yoga, candles... Sounds magical.
7. Explore wine's history, story, and process
I might be biased, but understanding where our wine (or beer) comes from adds another layer of deeper understanding and connection.
I might even go as far as saying, making your own wines and beers creates a deeper connection between wellness and wine. We have the opportunity to engage with fermentation, a sacred gift from nature.
Do you ever go out hiking, running, surfing, to connect with Mother Nature? Well, winemaking and beer making are a unique way to build a relationship with Mother Nature's bounty.
Fermentation is like the wild cousin to hiking, biking, surfing.

8. Moderation as Mindfulness
As with anything in life, moderation is key and spiritual clarity thrives in balance, not excess.
Much like tip number 1, it is vital to be mindful in the actual act of consumption.
A big reason why people tend to over drink is because they are allowing outside influences determine their end goal. Whether that be social situations or the issue of addiction.
Once we can bring mindfulness into our drinking habits, especially with wine, we can connect better with the wine itself and know when to stop.
Try to limit yourself to 1-2 glasses of wine (when talking about wellness and wine).
9. Journal and Glass
I know we all journal, and having a glass while you sit in the sun and reflect on your current experiences is a beautiful way to bring some elegance to your wellbeing practices.
As mentioned above, we can use wine as a tool to connect with the present through sipping mindfully, swirling, enjoying the beautiful aromas, etc.
Pair that with your journal practice and you can find an outstanding synergy between Mother Nature's gift (wine) and introspection.
10. Align You & Your Wine
The spirit of wine can be seen when we pair red wines with red meat and we pair white wines with light fatty fish.
We also can see this play out when we choose white wine in the summer and red wine in the winter.
Does that happen to you?
On a spring day sometimes it's best to have a nice refreshing glass of white wine. So, why is that?
Red wines are grounding and stable while white wines bring clarity, brightness, and light-heartedness.
If you are feeling more grounded and relaxed, then choose a red wine. Alternatively, if you are feeling bright and clear minded then maybe white wine.
11. Rest and Recharge
The final wellness and wine tip... Make sure to rest and recharge.
As I mentioned, wine is a depressant and when we pair it with other tips above we can notice a relaxation effect.
Especially if you are journaling, doing yoga, or moving energy other ways, it's important to honor our bodies and allow us to rest.
Spiritual growth blossoms with resting, meditating, and just being.

Overall, these 11 wine wellness tips will give you a deeper relationship with wine, fermentation, and ultimately yourself.
From yoga to journaling to being outside, wine can be a great tool to connect us to the present moment if we honor and respect it.
